Boys that study History A Level go on to read a vast range of respected degree subjects at top universities including Oxbridge, with Law being a notable favourite. History at LGS has a thriving cocurricular side. Enrichment activities include: Senior History Society, University Historians, Oxbridge preparation, the Florence trip, Historical Association Great Debate, Oxbridge History essay prizes, exam-preparation webinars, the Tours of the Roses trip, and access to the History Library.
To maximise success at A Level we recommend: • A sum of at least 30 points from the top five GCSE grades • Grade 5 in GCSE English • Grade 5 in GCSE Mathematics • Grade 7* in the subjects to be studied at A Level All applications to subjects will be considered. Students are encouraged to speak with the Head of Department, Deputy Head Academic, or Sixth Form Academic Coordinator who can advise further on suitability to the A Level course. *Grade 8 for Further Mathematics.
