A Level Drama and Theatre Studies is an excellent course for those looking to nurture their skills in performance, direction, design and critical evaluation of theatre. Emphasis is placed on enabling students to create their theatre, as well as developing advanced analytical skills and an appreciation of all aspects of theatre practice. The OCR examination board provides a comprehensive course, which incorporates the study of a great variety of plays from classical to modern, as well as allowing the students to devise their drama. The exploration of the context of the plays studied engages the students in developing an understanding of how social or political commentary can be made through theatre.
Offers will be conditional on reaching the required minimum grade in the GCSE subjects students plan to pursue at A Level. In addition, students will need a minimum of 5 GCSEs (or IGCSEs) in Grade 6 and above, including Maths and English Language as a requirement to join our Sixth Form. Please note that we will need to see confirmation of exam results upon their publication. A Grade 7 at GCSE Drama is recommended as a good foundation for the A-Level but is not a fixed requirement for exceptional candidates.
