Have you ever wanted to study the natural world and the living things within it? The study of biology connects us to the world we are living in and reminds us of how we are connected with all other life forms. It develops awareness of the significance of the Earth’s giant fauna and flora and distinctive ecosystems, from the large Asian elephant to the microscopic organisms that we cannot see with our naked eye. Biology students will study the physiology and anatomy of animals and plants through topics on cells of the body, the influence of genetics and the environment. Biology is fundamentally an experimental subject and is a stepping stone to future study in medicine, forensics, zoology, plant pathology and microbiology, just to name a few. By studying biology, it will assist you to improve upon problem solving, organisation, research and analytical skills. As a biologist, you will work on group projects which will help you build your teamwork and communication skills too.
At least a grade 6 in GCSE Combined Science Double award or GCSE Biology and Chemistry in Single Science.
