Course summary

The investigation of visual phenomena in its myriad forms, in practical terms, utilising traditional and contemporary methodology. Drawing as a fundamental activity can underpin applications and academic research now forms part of the second year of the course. Art is for creative, maverick students; those who can draw, those who like to take risks and those fascinated by visual phenomena.

Entry requirements

A typical academic profile of a girl entering Year 12 is 10 GCSEs, with the majority in grades 7 to 9. These must include English and Mathematics at Grade 6 or above AND at least a Grade 7 in those subjects you wish to study at A Level (Grade 9 in Mathematics to study Further Mathematics). At least GCSE Art at Grade 7. Exceptions can be made for candidates demonstrating potential.

How you'll be assessed

Unit 1. Personal Investigation: Comprises coursework portfolio, final solution and written personal study. Unit 2. Externally set assignment: Creative development of a given theme. Concludes with a 15-hour controlled element.
