The course is studied as a full A Level linear course (two years). The AQA syllabus content is presented in the form of topics related to people and their environment. We examine many of the problems facing the world today and what can be done to manage these problems. An environmental focus is important covering a wide variety of topics, e.g. climate change, global warming, earthquakes, volcanoes, glaciers and flooding. Socio-economic problems are also considered such as world population growth, inequalities in development, migration issues as well as peoples' perspective of place and space. The topics • The physical topics studied in Year 12 include Water and Carbon Cycles and Glacial Systems and Landscapes. • The human topics studied in Year 12 include Changing Places Global Systems and Global Governance. In Year 13, students will study Hazards for Physical Geography and Contemporary Urban Environments for Human Geography. In addition, they will also complete an NEA-independent investigation of their focus based on one of the topics in the specification.
