Studying Chemistry is all about discovery, creativity, problem solving and communication. Chemistry is essential to develop new medicines, foods, fabrics, plastics, cosmetics and fuels, to name but a few. It helps us to understand how biological systems work, controls the quality of our water so that it is safe to drink and keeps the air we breathe pure. Chemistry will keep your career options open and combines well with other subjects at A Level, such as: Biology, Geography, Mathematics and Physics. The course aims to teach you chemical ideas within a context led approach, split into topics covering different key concepts of Chemistry.
Entry into the Sixth Form is dependent upon ability and attitude, together with a minimum of five GCSE passes at Grade 5, or higher, including English and Mathematics, a Headteacher’s report and personal interview. Some subjects may require higher grades for entry to A Level.
The practical element is assessed throughout the two years to achieve the Practical Endorsement.
