Course summary

In our global world, speaking foreign languages is a key life skill. Studying a Spanish A Level course will give you the chance to build on your GCSE language skills and study the culture and recent history of Spain and other Spanish speaking countries. Being able to speak another language fluently is very desirable for universities and future employers alike. If you have a passion for languages, culture and literature this is the course for you. The content revolves around current trends and aspects of society and artistic culture in the Hispanic world. As part of the course you will study two set texts: a film and a book. Assessment will include listening and reading comprehension tasks, a speaking exam, translation from and into Spanish and essay writing.

Entry requirements

Entry into the Sixth Form is dependent upon ability and attitude, together with a minimum of five GCSE passes at Grade 5, or higher, including English and Mathematics, a Headteacher’s report and personal interview. Some subjects may require higher grades for entry to A Level.
