You can study A Level Further Mathematics alongside A Level Mathematics and a further two A Levels. Further Maths gives you a broader knowledge of mathematical principles. Some universities require both qualifications from those applying to study maths at undergraduate level. Further Mathematics is a highly regarded course for potential applicants to Oxford and Cambridge. You must have opted for Mathematics, although you may be taught separately to the single maths group. You will study all of the A Level Mathematics content, plus Further Pure Maths as well as optional extra Statistics and Mechanics. Decision Maths options are also available.
Our usual entry requirement is a GCSE Level 7 or higher in the subject that you wish to study coupled with a raft of GCSE Level 6 and above results. If you wish to study Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Maths then a Level 7 or higher is required.
You will take 4 x 90 minute papers at the end of Year 13, two in Pure Maths and two optional papers in either Pure, Mechanics, Statistics or Decision Maths.
