You will enjoy practical lessons developing your technique and choreography skills, as well as performance evenings and workshops from visiting performers. Work will be undertaken as a soloist and as part of a duo or trio group. Theory lessons consist of group tasks, research and presentations. There are many degree courses available after A Level. Degrees and Masters are available in choreography, performance and dance movement therapy, plus combined honours degrees.
Our usual entry requirement is a GCSE Level 7 or higher in the subject that you wish to study coupled with a raft of GCSE Level 6 and above results. If you wish to study Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Maths then a Level 7 or higher is required.
Exams and Assessment. Year 12 Practical exam - 80 marks - 50% of AS Level Written exam: 2 hours - 80 marks - 50% of AS Level • Section A: short answer questions on own practice (15 marks). • Section B: short answer questions on the compulsory area of study (15 marks). • Section C: two essay questions on both areas of study – compulsory essay (25 marks) and an essay from a choice of four (25 marks). Year 13 Practical exam - 80 marks - 50% of AS Level Written exam: 2 hours 30 minutes - 100 marks - 50% of A Level • Section A: short answer questions (25 marks) and one essay question (25 marks) on the compulsory set work/area of study. • Section B: two essay questions on the second set work/area of study (25 marks for each essay).
