Course summary

Biology is the study of life. It is a vast and rapidly changing subject with connections to many other subjects. Many of the topics you will study in Biology A-level develop ideas you have come across at iGCSE, while some others will be completely new. Taught using discursive techniques, you will become familiar at reading articles, discussing biological themes and sharing your ideas. A practical course, you will develop key laboratory skills to prepare you for studying Science at university. Below are the six modules that are spread across the course: Development of practical skills (spread throughout course) Foundations in Biology (cells, cell division and biochemistry) Exchange and Transport Biodiversity, Evolution and Disease Communication, Homeostasis and Energy Genetics and Ecosystems All Sixth Form biologists attend a field trip in the L6 Summer Term to Pembrokeshire. During the field trip you will learn the ecology component of the course and complete practicals that contribute towards the Practical Endorsement.
