The course is slit into 4 different themes. Theme 1 Students will develop an understanding of: • meeting customer needs • the market • marketing mix and strategy • managing people • entrepreneurs and leaders. Theme 2 Students will develop an understanding of: • raising finance • financial planning • managing finance • resource management • external influences. Theme 3 This theme develops the concepts introduced in Theme 2. Students will develop an understanding of: • business objectives and strategy • business growth • decision-making techniques • influences on business decisions • assessing competitiveness • managing change. Theme 4 This theme develops the concepts introduced in Theme 1. Students will develop an understanding of: • globalisation • global markets and business expansion • global marketing • global industries and companies (multinational corporations).
Candidates sit GL Assessments CAT4. In addition, pupils are expected to achieve 40 or more GCSE points. International pupils should have IELTS at 6.0 or equivalent. Most heads of department recommend at least a grade 7 at GCSE for subjects relevant to sixth form study.
Component 1: 35% Covering topics in Themes 1 & 4. Sections A and B each comprise one data response question broken down into a number of parts, including one extended open-response question. Component 2: 35% Covering Topics in Themes 2 &3. Sections A and B each comprise one data response question broken down into a number of parts, including one extended open-response question. Component 3: 30% Based on pre-release material covering topics for all the Themes.
