Business Studies A-level is a useful introduction to the world of business for students planning to enter professions such as banking, accountancy, management services and human resources management. The subject is extremely popular at the degree level. Every day our lives are affected by businesses, from the clothes we wear, the music we listen to and the food we eat. Through the study of business, students can gain an understanding of how these influential companies operate. The course involves learning how to plan, finance and manage a business. The course is 100% examination-based, with the exam being a mixture of multiple-choice questions and longer, essay-style questions. The Business course covers a wide range of topics including, is made up of four themes. Themes 1 and 2 will be studied in Year 1, and themes 3 and 4 covered in Year 2. There is no coursework involved in Business; instead, students will be required to complete three exams at the end of the course. The units that students study are: • Theme 1: Marketing and People • Theme 2: Managing Business Activities • Theme 3: Business Decisions and Strategies • Theme 4: Global Business
Candidates must have a minimum of 6 GCSEs grade 6 and above, including maths and English, and grade 7s in the A-level subjects they wish to study (where relevant).
