It is a rewarding and challenging course which will enable you to: • Develop essential knowledge and understanding of different areas of the subject and how they relate to each other. • Understand how society makes decisions about scientific issues and how they sciences contribute to the success of the economy and society. Lower Sixth: • Biological molecules • Cells • Organisms exchange substances with the environment • Genetic information variation and relationships between organisms Upper Sixth: • Energy transfers in and between organisms • Organisms respond to changes in their internal and external environments • Genetic Populations, evolution and eco-systems • Control of gene expression
Our Sixth Form entry also requires an interview with the Heads of Sixth Form, after which a conditional offer will be made and will be dependent upon agreed GCSE grade requirements. Our standard requirement is Grade 6 or above in the chosen A-Level subjects (or relevant subject), Grade 5 or above in English and Maths and Grade 4 or above in non-related GCSE subjects.
Lower Sixth: Assessment is two exam papers 1 hour 30 minutes which cover content from any of the above topics and relevant practical skills. Upper Sixth: Assessment is three exam papers of 2 hours, which cover content from both Upper and Lower Sixth.
