The course starts in the Spring term of Year 12 where students are invited to watch the presentations of the Year 13. From this point, applications are made by students to the EPQ CoOrdinator to start on the EPQ course. Taught skills sessions start in the summer term of Year 12 and each student is assigned a supervisor who will mentor them through the process. Submission of the final essay/artefact is the first day of the Spring term in Year 13 with presentations normally falling in early to midFebruary. The course will be complete when the Production Log is submitted at the end of February. The Extended Project will develop and extend from one or more of the student’s areas of study or from an area of personal interest or activity outside of their main programme of study. It will be based on a topic chosen by the student and agreed by the school. An EPQ will involve extended autonomous work by the student. The project can either take the form of a 5000-word essay or an artefact with an accompanying written report.
Sixth form applicants need at least five grade 5s at GCSE but some A-level subjects need a higher grade. Assessment tests for those not taking recognised exams.
Non-examined assessment: 100%
