Physics seeks to understand the workings of the world around us. A Level Physics builds on the skills developed at GCSE to enables students to model and describe situations with greater detail and precision. Practical work is at the heart of A-Level Physics. Students undertake challenging experiments with a high degree of independence as part of the practical endorsement. The course will suit those who are inquisitive, logically minded, enjoy abstract concepts and modelling Mathematics. Physics overlaps particularly well with Mathematics, Further Maths and Chemistry, but can also fit well with Economics, Design Technology, Biology and Geography.
• Achieving at least 5 grade 6’s at GCSE including English and Maths. • Obtaining at least a grade 6 in those subjects students wish to study at A level (or equivalent).
Physics A-Level grade is assessed via 100% exam.
