The course contains a mixture of pure maths, statistics and mechanics. All exam boards follow exactly the same specification. Students will build on existing GCSE knowledge and explore concepts in: • Algebra: Proof, Algebra and Functions, Coordinate Geometry in the x-y Plane, Sequences and Series, Exponentials and Logarithms, Trigonometry • Geometry: Vectors • Calculus: Differentiation, Integration • Numerical Methods
• Achieving at least 5 grade 6’s at GCSE including English and Maths. • Obtaining at least a grade 6 in those subjects students wish to study at A level (or equivalent).
The course is no longer modular and will be examined in its entirety at the end of Year 13. There will not be opportunities for resitting modules as before. There are 3 exams at the end of the course as follows: Pure Maths: 2 hours Pure Maths and Statistics : 2 hours Pure Maths and Mechanics : 2 hours
