You will analyse how texts relate to one another and certain literary traditions, plus how texts are interpreted by different readers, including during different time periods. To get the most out of your course, you should be an enthusiastic reader and be prepared for extensive reading, including reading around the subject to inform your interpretation of texts. You should be willing to justify your ideas during class discussions and in written essays, and enjoy working both independently and in a group.
