This is a two year course and is equivalent to 2 A levels. The diploma gives students the flexibility to develop their knowledge and understanding of business whist studying an additional A level alongside it. There are 8 units that will be studied, 6 of these are mandatory units that have been designed to give students a broad overview of business and business theory. Units covered include; exploring business, developing a marketing campaign, personal and business finance, managing an event, international business and principles of management. Two units are optional and have been selected to build students skills as well as capitalise on staff specialisms. These units can include; recruitment and selection, digital marketing and customer service. You will have the opportunity to complete assignments based on real business scenarios and will be assessed through coursework, external examinations and controlled assessment. Please note, you need to be very well organised and enjoy spending time working through a range of individual tasks outside of college as around 60% of your qualification will be assessed through coursework.
College entry to include GCSE Mathematics grade 5 or above (please refer to the Entry Requirements section for further details).
The course is assessed by a combination of coursework and examinations. You will complete 8 units over the two years. 5 Units will be assessed by completing coursework. 3 Units will be assessed by examinations.
