
This 1-year course includes 8 Units of work which are marked and moderated internally. The course can provide progression to the Level 3 Health and Social Care course. • Communication within a Health and Social Care environment; • Individual rights; • Individual needs; • Ensuring safety in the workplace; • Anatomy and Physiology in the Health and social Care sector; • Lifespan development • Understanding of the importance of a Healthy diet within a Health and Social Care environment. The first four are compulsory Units, and the second 4 are optional units chosen by staff. An integral and compulsory part of the course is to attend a one week work placement within a Health and Social Care setting. The benefit of this is to give students the opportunity of practising the theoretical skills and knowledge gained on the course in a working environment. Students invariably return from this experience having a deeper understanding of the importance of some of the theoretical issues they are taught, and also often gives them a renewed sense of purpose in their studies. Why Study? Level 2 Health and Social Care Diploma, is a wide ranging course which covers many different skills and knowledge within this pathway. Successful completion of this course at the overall Merit level, allows students to progress to the Level 3 course in Health and Social Care. You will recognise and develop your skill, knowledge and understanding of the health and social care sector and the settings, job roles, principles and values involved.
All students who have not yet achieved a grade 4 in English and/or Maths will join a resit class
