Year 12 –Two units: Unit 2 – Fundamentals of Computer Systems Study the fundamental principles of how computer systems work, including the role of hardware and software, the way components of a system work together and how data is used in a system. Unit 7 – IT Systems Security and Encryption Explore different IT system security threats and the methods used to protect against them. Undertake activities to protect IT systems from security threats, including data encryption. Year 13 - Two units: Unit 1 – Principles of Computer Science Learn about the principles that underpin all areas of Computer Science. Develop your computational-thinking skills and how you can apply those skills to solve problems. Unit 15 – Website Development. Learn the fundamental principles and key concepts of website design and development. Design and develop a website using scripting languages. Method of Assessment Unit 1—Written exam, two hours Unit 2—Written exam, 1 hour and 45 minutes Unit 7 and Unit 15—100% coursework Grade range: Pass to Distinction* Why Study?
