
Course content BTEC Nationals are qualifications that are designed to develop and extend specialist work-related knowledge and practical skills qualifications in a range of sectors. BTEC Level 3 Applied Science offers a stimulating and engaging programme for students who would like to pursue a career in science-based industries and organisations. The course will provide students with the opportunity to gain an understanding of the basic principles of science, learning how to undertake a scientific investigation and develop the skills necessary to work in a science laboratory. This course is equivalent to one A level. BTEC Nationals require applied learning that brings together knowledge and understanding with practical and technical skills. This is achieved through learners performing vocational tasks that encourage the development of appropriate vocational behaviours and transferable skills. Transferable skills are those such as communication, teamwork, research and analysis, which are valued in both higher education and the workplace.
