

This course is ideally suited to anyone wishing to learn more about the English language in terms of both its structures and its many uses and varieties. It also provides an opportunity for you to further develop your own skills in writing for different audiences and purposes. You will study, analyse, evaluate and create texts in a variety of genres for different audiences, and your technical knowledge about how language works will be greatly expanded. Spoken texts will be studied as frequently as written texts. In addition, you will study key topics, such as the influence of gender, region, social groups and occupation
Grade 5 or above in GCSE English Language and 36 - 48 points Calculating your Point Score • Points have the same numerical value as the grade achieved. For example a Grade 5 is equivalent to 5 points. • Combined Science GCSE counts as two GCSEs and the two grades should be combined. For example a 7/6 would be 13 points. • For students who have studied a Level 2 BTEC Qualification the following conversions should be used: Distinction* : 8 Points Distinction: 7 Points Merit: 6 Points Level 2 Pass: 5 Points
