

The first year of study will involve studying topics such as: Business ownership Leadership and motivation Decision making Marketing Operational strategy Corporate responsibility Financial performance - including basic accounts. The second year of study will require students to cover topics such as: How businesses plan for strategic change The global environment of business External factors facing business - including economic factors The ethics of business operations. This course is ideally suited to students who have a desire to learn more about how businesses and entrepreneurs operate. If you want to find out more about the key areas of business such as finance, marketing, human resources and sales then business studies is for you. You will also be interested in current world issues and keen to learn more about subjects such as ethical trading, globalisation and the economy.
To study this course you will need to achieve 36 - 48 points and a Grade 6 in GCSE Business Studies. A Grade 5 in GCSE Maths is desirable. (If Business Studies has not been studied a Grade 6 in GCSE English will be accepted) Calculating your Point Score • Points have the same numerical value as the grade achieved. For example a Grade 5 is equivalent to 5 points. • Combined Science GCSE counts as two GCSEs and the two grades should be combined. For example a 7/6 would be 13 points. • For students who have studied a Level 2 BTEC Qualification the following conversions should be used: Distinction* : 8 Points Distinction: 7 Points Merit: 6 Points Pass: 5 Points To study this course you will need to achieve 32-35 points if you wish 3 BTEC / CTEC courses 36 - 47 points if you wish to study with other A levels
