

Course outline The course consists of three separate units, each unit has a 2 hour exam paper. Students must write three essays from a choice of four questions, worth a total of 120 marks to secure success. Philosophy and Religion In this unit you will study and compare Philosophy and Religion. Ethics In the second unit you will consider a number of the big moral and ethical issues that confront us in our daily lives. Developments in Christian Thought In the third unit you will study Christian thought in relation to society. Lesson structure and expectations Students must approach the subject with a positive attitude, have a love of learning, be open minded and prepared to work hard. Exam style essay questions will be set regularly as homework and students are expected to independently read around the subject in order to fully appreciate complex worldviews and their wider implications. Course requirements A grade 4 in English and Grade 5 in either English literature or Religious Studies . Next Steps Many students that take Religious Studies at A Level go on to read Philosophy, Theology, English, Law, Modern Political Thought, Sociology and even study Medicine at degree level. Religious Studies is a well respected A Level subject.
