
Students will work on developing their vocal, physical, and interpretive skills for live performance. They will study a variety of practitioner techniques and styles and will analyse the use of these in their work. Students will apply the theories and techniques they have learnt for two scripted performances and one devised performance that must be performed to a live audience. Students will also sit a written examination which will require them to investigate the work of a variety of Performing Arts practitioners and analyse it, in relation to the contextual factors of the practitioner and a given theme
For all Level 3 courses, students require a total of 5 GCSEs at grades 9-4 or equivalent in vocational subjects. This course has an additional requirement of: Grade 4 or above in Performing Arts or audition/consultation
In Performing Arts, students work in a mixed Year 12 and 13 class and so the order of units roll over a two-year programme. Across the two years, students will complete all of the units listed below: Year 12 and Year 13 Unit 1 - Investigating Practitioner’s Work Unit 2 - Developing Skills and Techniques for Live Performance Unit 3 - Group Performance Workshop Unit 19 - Acting Styles
