Course summary

French in the Sixth Form is lively, interactive and challenging. The course is based around the study of topics, which include social issues and trends, and political and artistic culture. Lessons are conducted mainly in French and practise listening, speaking, reading and writing equally. Resources include the internet, satellite television, magazines, film, music and literature. All students are encouraged to spend time in France during their course and we assist them in finding work experience placements in Year 12. Future Proof French is a highly respected A Level, which is accepted as a qualification for entry onto virtually all degree courses, including the study of another language from “scratch”. French is also available at university in combination with a wide choice of other subjects. Employers are increasingly looking for applicants with language skills and the powers of analysis that language learning develops. French speakers are particularly sought after as it remains one of the most widespread languages in the world, with speakers in Europe, Africa, the Americas and the Pacific. It is also an official language of many international organisations, such as the UN, the EU and the IOC. There is no doubt that French on your CV looks good.
