Course summary

Physics is a fascinating subject that can explain many fundamental questions that people have about the world and Universe around them and how natural phenomena occur. It is a well-respected course as it requires the application of mathematical problem solving skills to real-life situations, as well as developing a range of transferable skills, particularly practical, mathematical and problem solving skills. The course is delivered through a combination of practical and theoretical elements, and as part of their study students will be required to complete a number of specified experiments to demonstrate their competency and understanding. Students will cover a variety of topics, from mechanics and motion, electricity, waves, through gravitational and electromagnetic fields, to nuclear, particle and quantum physics. Future Proof Physics is an excellent foundation for many career paths due to the skills and mindset it develops in students. In addition to the study of pure Physics and Astrophysics, the knowledge gained from the A-Level Physics course can be used in a whole range of applications: from nuclear medicine to energy generation; from sports analysis to computer game programming; from rollercoaster design to material science and engineering! Physicists are in short supply, so you will be in demand!Physics can be studied alongside a range of other subjects depending on what career path you are interested in, but it is often useful to study Mathematics at A-Level to support your application of these skills in Physics.

Entry requirements
