Understanding sports performance from all angles in a dynamic and practical way. We are proud of the rapport we establish with the students in A level PE and this has contributed to many of our students going on to complete university degrees within the sports sector. We provide a personalised learning experience that captures the passion that students have for this increasingly diverse and interesting subject at A level. Future Proof The sport and leisure industry has been one of the largest growth industries over the last five years.Physical Education has developed as a subject, and is now regarded as rigorously academic by universities. Recently, students have gone onto study medicine, physiotherapy, sport and exercise science, sports therapy as well as physical education.
Students should have achieved Grade 6 or equivalent in PE or Biology GCSE or Grade 6s (or equivalent) in Core Science and Additional Science.Students do not have to have studied GCSE PE in order to be successful at A Level.It is anticipated that students will have a keen interest in, and an aptitude for and commitment to sport and participate regularly, at club level, in their chosen activity.
Unit 1 Section A: Applied anatomy and physiology Section B: Skill acquisition Section C: Sport and society Written exam: 2 hours - 35% Unit 2 Section A: Exercise physiology and biomechanics Section B: Sport psychology Section C: Sport and society and technology in sport Written exam: 2 hours - 35% Unit 3 Students assessed as a performer or coach in the full sided version of one activity, plus: written/verbal analysis of performance. Internal assessment, external moderation - 30%
