Every year more and more people take up sport and since the UK hosted the Olympic Games in London 2012, Physical Education has never played such an important part in our society. As somebody studying sports, you’ll be at the forefront of the positive impact that sport can have on developing a nation. Physical Education is now a well-established academic subject, with one of the highest growth rates of any subject area in the UK. The Physical Education course at QE will enable you to understand and analyse the major concepts and principles underlying sport and physical education and to develop higher order thinking skills suited to life at university, in apprenticeships and an exciting range of employment opportunities.
The qualification is made up of 4 components: Components 1 and 2 are both written examinations on Scientific Principles of Physical Education (40%) and Psychological and Social Principles of Physical Education (30%). Components 3 and 4 are both internally assessed and externally moderated by Edexcel. Practical Performance (15%) and Performance Analysis and Performance Development Programme (15%).
