
Textiles is the applied art dedicated to the design of fashion, interior and lifestyle accessories. Students explore a variety of surface enhancement techniques, such as embroidery, heat tool techniques, dyeing and printing. These are developed through their own direct observational work and their research into both past and present artists and designers. Students will also combine drawing and illustration skills and develop their ideas using Adobe creative programmes such as Photoshop and Illustrator and computerised sewing machines and heat press technology to produce their final outcomes that are commercially viable.
40% external assessment. Unit One: 60% - Practical and written personal investigation. Unit Two: 40% - Externally set assignment. Eight weeks preparatory work followed by a 15 hour practical exam.
