
The A-level Music specification enables students to extend their knowledge and understanding of music, to create and develop their own musical ideas and to demonstrate technical, interpretative and communication skills through performing music. Why study it? You are passionate about music. You are grade 6+ on any instrument or voice and are able to understand grade 3 theory. You have a grade 6 in music at GCSE. You have an eagerness to perform! Music is a challenging subject to study that is recognised by highly academic universities. It develops a range of skills, including in-depth analysis, creativity and collaboration. Music works well as a creative option with sciences or maths, or with other artistic options such as English or languages. Degrees: Many of our students have gone on to study at music colleges and conservatoires. 50% of students graduating with a music degree pursue a musical career. 25% become teaching or education professionals and 25% find employment in artistic, literary and media occupations.
