
This course is for any prospective student who is looking to obtain a license to practice to level 3 standards and advance their knowledge and skills of working with children for employment or progression to university. This qualification is suitable for post-16 students looking to develop both knowledge and practical skills in the education and early years sector. This technical qualification will support students on to a range of progression routes including employment, higher education and higher apprenticeships. Units Year 1: Wider Context Supporting Education Safeguarding, Health and Safety and Wellbeing Behaviour Parents, Families and Carers Working with others Child Development Observation and Assessment Reflective Practice Equality and Diversity Special educational needs and disability English as additional language Core Skills 1 Communicate information clearly to engage children and young people Core skills 2 Work with others to plan and provide activities to meet children’s and young people’s needs Core skills 3 Use formative and summative assessment to track children’s and student’s progress to plan and shape educational opportunities Core skill 4 How to assess and manage risks to your own and others’ safety when planning activities Year 2 PO1 Support and promote children’s play, development and early education PO2 Develop relationships with children to facilitate their development PO3 Plan, provide and review care, play and educational opportunities to enable children to progress PO4 Safeguard and promote the health, safety and wellbeing of children PO5 Work in partnership with colleagues, parents, carers and other professionals to support children’s development Students will also be expected to undertake a work placement as part of successful completion of this course.
This course is two-years. 5 GCSE's grades 4-9 (including English and Maths)
Year 1 - 2 exams and 1 Controlled assessment (Employer Set Based Project (ESP). Year 2 - 2 controlled assessments, 3 practical exams in placement and must be observed in placement to meet early years’ competencies (41).
