
This course helps to prepare you to work safely and with confidence in the construction industry with a focus on bricklaying and block work construction skills. You will work to recognised industrial standards and will gain the underpinning knowledge and skills to prepare you for a career in the industry. The Level 1 Bricklaying Diploma is approximately 60% practical and 40% theory, and your training will be carried out in our construction workshop and classrooms. You will have a personal tutor to help support your learning as well as access to information on study skills and study support groups should you need them. Your practical training in the workshop will include: Basic block laying, how to construct walls using blocks Basic bricklaying, how to construct walls using bricks Basic cavity walling, how to construct walls for houses Basic setting out, how to read drawings and position a building You'll also study: Health and safety, the essential safety that is demanded by the construction industry Communications, how the construction industry operates and communicates Building methods, how buildings are constructed and the role you would play as a bricklayer Full time 16-19 learner with a Grade 3 or below, must study towards a GCSE grade 4-9.
This course is one-year. 5 GCSE's grades 2-9 (including English and Maths)
Students on this course will be assessed in both theory-based and practical assessments. Some elements of this course will also require students to complete and pass online examinations as part of the regulations for the qualification.
