
Why take the course? The course enables students to gain practical laboratory skills and theoretical scientific understanding in a workplace setting. Students develop their knowledge and skills by exploring one of three vocational pathways: environmental, human or food science. It is equivalent to one A Level. Summary of what is studied (specification) Unit 1: Science Fundamentals Unit 2: Laboratory Techniques Unit 3: Scientific Analysis and Response In addition, a range of modules studying topics including: Human Physiology, Genetics, Control of Hazards in the Laboratory, Human Nutrition, Cell Biology, Sustainability and Renewable Energy. Where could this qualification take you? Science based apprenticeships or employment.
Most of the assessed work is assignment based but there is an exam which students have to pass to complete the course.
