Physics is the science of how matter interacts, and it spans the whole range from the very smallest particles right up to the universe itself. As a physical science there is an emphasis on predicting behaviour and testing through observation and measurement. Studying A Level Physics gives students an insight into how the entire universe works & the nature of existence. It provides highly sought-after skills, in demand and in shortage. When the average graduate job has 52 applicants, physics provides a rare advantage and head turning qualification that puts them at an advantage over others. Topics studied as part of the course include: 1. Measurements and errors 2. Particles and radiation 3. Waves 4. Mechanics and materials 5. Electricity 6. Further mechanics and thermal physics 7. Fields and their consequences 8. Nuclear physics + Option module: 12. Turning points in Physics 12a. Discovery of the electron 12b. Wave-particle duality 12c. Special relativity
Either GCSE Physics + one other GCSE Science at Grade 6, or Combined Science at Grade 6/6 is required to study A Level Physics GCSE Maths: Grade 6 GCSE English Language: Grade 6
3 x two-hour written exams, each worth 33.3% of total A Level There are also practical skill assessments throughout the course.
