Course summary

Although both demanding in time and commitment this course will be both challenging and fulfilling. The course provides the ideal platform for any student wishing to pursue the extensive career opportunities in the creative industries. The Course is wide ranging covering many approaches to making Art and Design. Although practical work forms most ofthe A level Art curriculum, criticalawareness and the appreciation of artists work will also play an important part in the course and students should be prepared to analyse their own work and the work of others.

AS Level Modules Component One:Personal Investigation 50% of the total qualification. Develop a portfolio of practical work and annotation Component Two: Externally Set assignment. 50% of total qualification Students produce work unaided under examination conditions during the 10–hour period of sustained focus A2 Modules Component One:Personal Investigation 60% of the total qualification Three major elements: supporting studies, practical work, and a personal study. The personal study is a 3,000-word written essay showing contextual research and understanding. The personal study comprises 12% of the total qualification Component Two: Externally Set assignment. 40% of total qualification Two major elements: preparatory studies and a 15–hour period of sustained focus under examination conditions,
