This pathway focuses on developing a range of applications across various platforms and sectors. Students will acquire the ideal combination of knowledge, understanding, and skills needed for the 21st century, enabling them to demonstrate how applications are designed, built, tested, and implemented. F160 - Fundamentals of application development (External Exam) This unit covers the basics of what applications are and their common functions. It explores the stages of software development, from scoping requirements to designing user-friendly features. Additionally, it introduces the job roles in application development and the skills needed for these positions. F161 – Developing application software (External Exam) This unit enhances your understanding of implementing, commissioning, and maintaining secure applications. It covers implementation methodologies, cross-platform development, data flow management, and ensuring data security. You'll also learn how to deploy applications and handle their installation and long-term maintenance. F162 – Designing and communicating UX/UI solutions (NEA) This unit covers the essential principles of user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design for creating user-friendly applications. You will learn how to design intuitive interfaces, meet specific user needs, and create engaging experiences. The unit also includes developing UX/UI solutions, creating graphical designs, and honing communication skills to present these ideas to clients. F163 – Game Development (NEA) This unit delves into the expanding game development industry, equipping you with the skills to design and prototype game concepts. It covers game mechanics, visual design, genre influences, and provides hands-on experience in planning, creating, and testing game prototypes, along with building functional game environments. F164 – Website Development (NEA) This unit teaches website design and development, covering key principles, webpage components, and ensuring compatibility across devices while meeting accessibility standards. It also includes SEO strategies for improving visibility and provides hands-on experience in creating, testing, and reviewing website prototypes.
