Building on knowledge, understanding and skills gained at GCSE, A-level students will study Spanish-speaking society and how it has been shaped socially and culturally and how it continues to change. You will also study the grammatical system and structure of the language. In addition to developing advanced Spanish language skills, the course also helps students develop a range of transferable skills including communication, critical thinking, research skills and creativity.
Paper 1 Listening, reading and writing, translation into English, translation into Spanish. Written exam: 2 hours 30 minutes; 100 marks Paper 2: Writing: Two books from the list of set texts in the specification or one book from the list of set texts and one film from the list in the specification. Written exam: 2 hours; 80 marks Paper 3: Speaking: Individual research project; Knowledge of one of the sub-themes Speaking test: 21-23 minutes (including 5 minutes’ preparation time at the start of the test); 60 marks
