
Drama A-Level provides opportunities to deepen knowledge and understanding in practical skills in all elements of theatre; acting, directing and designing set, costume, lighting and sound. The course provides you with an excellent grounding in performance theory and theatre making. You will be provided with opportunities to develop your devising and scripted performance skills while analysing live theatre and exploring two set texts. • Component 1: The Written Exam. A study and exploration of Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen, Our County’s Good by Timberlake Wertenbaker and visits to see Live Productions to analyse and evaluate their success in meeting overall dramatic aims and intentions. • Component 2: Creating Original Drama. Performance of an original, devised piece of theatre and supported with a working notebook. • Component 3: Making theatre. Theatrical workshopping of two extracts from scripted performances influenced by contrasting practitioners and performance of a third extract. All recorded through a reflective report.
Minimum grade 5 in GCSE Drama, minimum grade 5 in GCSE English Language and minimum grade 4 in GCSE Maths.
