Course summary

AS Level: Component 1 is a portfolio of work based on a mutually agreed theme or topic. The emphasis of this component will be on the development of understanding and skills using an appropriate range of materials, processes and techniques. Component 2 is an externally set assignment. A Level: Component 1 is a practical investigation supported by written material. Students are required to conduct a practical investigation, into an idea, issue, concept or theme, supported by written material. The focus of the investigation must be identified independently by the student and must lead to a finished outcome or a series of related finished outcomes. Component 2 is an externally set assignment with a choice of 8 questions. Students must choose one to study in more depth culminating in a sustained period of time to produce a final outcome.
