Unit 1: Foundation Portfolio • In this coursework unit, you will plan, produce and evaluate the opening two minutes of a film • You are assessed separately for the planning, construction and evaluation of the media products, using blogs and websites • This unit is assessed internally and worth 50% of the total AS marks Unit 2: Key Media Concepts • This unit covers the key concepts of Textual Analysis and Representation and Media Institutions and Audiences • Section A involves the textual analysis of an unseen moving image extract (TV Drama) and discussion of representation of social groups within the short sequence • Section B allows you to study the music industry and how new media technologies influence this important area of media
