
This exciting Pathway offers you the opportunity to develop the knowledge and practical skills needed for future work in business and industry. Over the two years It will help you to develop essential skills for the world of business such as finance, marketing, e-commerce, customer service, IT, numeracy, communication, teamwork and other transferable skills. The first year Level 2, equivalent to 4 GCSEs grade (9 to 6), is made up of various core, mandatory and optional units offered within the context of the unique S6C Study Programme which also includes GCSE Maths and English, work experience, enrichment and career education – all supported by a strong tutorial programme. Learners who successfully complete the programme in the first year can either proceed to a Level 3 Business qualification or go for an apprenticeship. The Level 3 qualification in Year 2 enhances the skills and knowledge established in Year 1 and prepares students for Higher Education, a Higher Level Apprenticeship or the workplace. How Is The Course Taught? The course is taught using a combination of lectures, role plays, discussions, presentations, workshops and practical activities. Learners are encouraged to pursue independent learning activities both inside and outside the college such as visiting local stores and carrying out market research. The course is enriched by exciting activities such as a study trip to Tesco, MGC, other major firms, workshops with our higher education partners, including Bournemouth University and using external guest speakers from the business sector. Within the college the students have access to the state of art study centre, allowing them conduct independent workshops to bolster their learning. Through a diverse and ambitious teaching programme, the college aims to imbue sufficient cultural capital and above all provide quality of education that is compatible with the needs and demands of the 21st century. Who is the course designed for? The two year programme is designed for those students who are considering a career with a business focus. The Level 2 option has been developed to support those students who may not have quite reached the grades to start the Level 3 qualification. For all students it provides a clear pathway to higher education or employment, with the flexibility at the end of each stage in the programme to consider appropriate pathways in terms of education or employment.
