Business is front-page news. The way companies operate continues to draw attention and the levels of scrutiny remain consistently high. The Business A-Level is now more highly focused and encourages students to engage, explore and understand business behaviour whilst developing a critical understanding of what business does. Studying Business at A-Level will give students a greater commercial awareness and encourage them to have a more analytical approach to the world we live in and the environment that businesses operate within.

How you'll be assessed

This course will be delivered over a 2 year programme and the full qualification will be accredited at the end of the 2 years. If students choose not to continue beyond Year 12 they are able to claim a qualification that is equivalent to AS level (0.5 of an A Level). The BTEC National in Business consists of 3 core units and 1 optional unit. One of the units is an external exam and one of the remaining units is an externally set assignment. 3 of the 4 units are assessed through coursework and in order to be successful it is vital that students have the selfdiscipline to make good progress on coursework independently. Students will receive a Distinction, Merit or Pass which carries an equivalence in UCAS points to traditional A Level subjects. The overall grade is based on the weighted scores a student achieves in each unit and it is possible to achieve a Distinction* Units Include: Unit 1 Exploring Business Unit 2 Developing a Marketing Campaign Unit 3 Personal and Business Finance Unit 8 Recruitment and Selection Process
