
This course is designed to allow you to develop an understanding of economics by examining current economic issues, problems and institutions that effect everyday life. Your work will focus on developing your knowledge and skills to explain and evaluate the important factors involved within an economy. You will be learning about the working of individual product markets, the reasons why markets fail, the theory of market structure and the working of national economies. There is a focus on decision making and how government can improve the outcomes in individual markets and for the whole economy.
Grade 6 in GCSE mathematicsand Grade 5 in GCSE English language or literature
This course is assessed by three examination papers. Paper 1 – Microeconomics (2 hours) Paper 2 – Macroeconomics (2 hours) Paper 3 – Themes in economics (2 hours)
