Course summary
The AAT qualification can only be studied alongside three additional A Level/Level 3 Subjects such as the BTEC Level 3 National Diploma Business Studies (equivalent to 2 A Levels) and the LiBF Financial Studies (equivalent to 1 A Level). Year 12 The AAT Level 2 qualification will be studied during Year 1. The is the foundation stage of the AAT with the course introducing essential accounting skills and principles that include the following: • Introduction to Bookkeeping • Principles of Bookkeeping controls • Principles of Costing • The Business Environment The Level 2 qualification usually takes one year to complete Year 13 The AAT Level 3 qualification will be studied during Year 2 of your study programme upon successful completion of the Level 2 AAT qualification. The Level 3 is the intermediate stage of AAT covers a range of essential and higher-level accounting techniques and disciplines. You will learn and develop skills for a range of financial processes, including maintaining cost accounting records, advanced bookkeeping, final accounts, VAT issues in business, management accounting costing techniques and ethical practices for accountants. You must successfully achieve the four mandatory unit assessments to achieve this qualification. The proportion of this qualification assessed by externally marked assessment is 100%. All assessments are computer based. On achieving the AAT Level 3, you can gain up to 56 UCAS points which is equivalent to an A at A Level.
