Our A Level Music course is intended to be a stimulating and enriching experience for our students. It aims to provide an excellent basis for lifelong learning and for higher education courses. At A Level Music, students experience all three main musical disciplines of performing, composing and appraising. During the course students will develop their recital performance skills on an instrument of their choice, and will compose one free and one set brief composition. Students will also build up their aural and analytical skills by studying the given set works from the ‘Edexcel A/A Level Anthology of Music’ and apply this knowledge to unfamiliar works. Edexcel A Level Music is an excellent preparation for higher education courses in Music and is equally valuable for non-specialists as a second or third area of study. Throughout the course students will have the opportunity to take part in a wide variety of musical enrichment activities, In addition to the extensive extra-curricular timetable, a team specialist and experienced instrumental teachers offer music tuition on a wide variety of instruments. Students who opt for music lessons are regularly entered for ABRSM or Trinity practical and theory examinations.
