Course summary

This newly developed qualification has been designed to be a new, exciting and forward-thinking qualification that will prepare students for the modern digital world where they will live and work. In this vocational course, pupils have the opportunity to use a range of software (including spreadsheets, presentation and word processing) to solve real-life problems using digital skills sought after in industry. What you will study: You will study the units listed below, providing approximately 120 guided learning hours. The course is made up of three components: Component 1, students will explore user interface design and development principles. Investigate how to use project planning techniques to manage a digital project, and discover how to develop and review a digital user interface. Component 2, students will explore how data impacts on individuals and organisations, draw conclusions and make recommendations on data intelligence. Students will use these skills to develop a dashboard using data manipulation tools. Component 3, students will explore how modern information technology is evolving, consider legal and ethical issues in data and information sharing. Understand what cyber security is, and how to safeguard against it. Skills you will gain: Digital literacy skills in the following applications: • Interface design • Design and presentation tools and software • Spreadsheet software Career Paths: Ideal for students who want a career in information technology and want to get a broad taste of digital skills. This is a stepping stone to careers like IT Project Management, Technical Support and Cyber Security. Please note: This is a one year course.
