
BTEC National Diploma in Sport QAN code 60304601/MA1 The qualification builds on the knowledge, understanding and skills developed through L2 BTEC Sport. It looks at the principles and practices within the sport, coaching and fitness industry. This course is equivalent to 2 A levels and involves pupils undertaking 3 externally marked exams in anatomy and physiology, fitness testing and programming and investigating business and sport and the active leisure industry, plus units that are internally marked. The course is mainly theoretical; it analyses many aspects of sport and is delivered through a variety of methods, within the classroom and by using the PE facilities. Areas of study include: Anatomy and Physiology Fitness programming Professional development in the sports industry Sports leadership Organising sports events Fitness Testing Business, sport and the active leisure industry. Coaching for performance. A minimum of five GCSE passes at grades 4 or 5 including English Language and Maths. Students must then meet subject specific typical minimum entry requirements (listed below).
The course is assessed through 3 externally assessed exams plus 6 internally assessed units that are assignment based. An overall grade of Pass, Merit or Distinction can be awarded.
