This course develops techniques learnt from GCSE Maths further and links them to real world applications. Subject content includes: Analysis of data, maths for personal finance, estimation, critical analysis of given data and models, critical path analysis, risk analysis, expectation and cost benefit analysis. Although this course is not as demanding as A level Mathematics (it is equivalent to an AS Level) it is still well thought of by many universities, particularly those involving statistics such as sports studies, geography or psychology. * Taught over one year *
Minimum five GCSE passes (grades 4 or 5) including English Language and Maths. Students must also meet subject specific minimum entry requirements (shown below).
Level 3 Mathematical Studies is assessed by examination at the end of the first year. There are 2 papers of 1.5 hours each.
