
BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Sport QAN code 60304601/MA1 The BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Sport looks at the principles and practices within the sport, coaching and fitness industry. This course is equivalent to 2 A levels and involves pupils undertaking 3 externally marked exams in anatomy and physiology, fitness testing and programming and investigating business and sport and the active leisure industry, plus units that are internally marked. The course is mainly theoretical; it analyses many aspects of sport and is delivered through a variety of methods, within the classroom and by using the PE facilities. Anatomy and Physiology Fitness programming Professional development in the sports industry Sports leadership Organising sports events Fitness Testing Business, sport and the active leisure industry. Coaching for performance. Pupils following this course are expected to participate in sport and play an integral part in the school Leadership Academy. * Please also select Sport (Single Award) as one of your choices * Future Opportunities - It is possible to progress into Higher Education to study in the following areas: Sport and exercise studies, physical education teaching (both primary and secondary), sport therapy, coaching science, health, sports performance and nutrition, recreation/sports management, leisure management and sport development. There are also opportunities to apply for the armed forces, or to seek employment within leisure industries.
Minimum five GCSE passes (grades 4 or 5) including English Language and Maths. Students must also meet subject specific minimum entry requirements (shown below). Note: You must also choose the Single award if you are taking the Double award.
The course is assessed through 3 externally assessed exams plus 6 internally assessed units that are assignment based. An overall grade of Pass, Merit or Distinction can be awarded.
